Club Full Name Date joined CRA club Reason for Dispensation Races between 1st Jan 2021 and the deadline for application for dispensation with CRA Club Races since 1st Jan 2021 for any other clubs Any Other Information
Cambridge 99's Clayton Roberts 01/09/2018 Rule 2.5 would have let me be eligible for town bumps last year but they were cancelled due to the pandemic. Had I rowed in town bumps last year I'd have been eligible for town bumps this year under rule 2.5a, as I'd have rowed for 99s in both the 2019 and 2020 town bumps. Goldie-Isis Reserve Boat Race, raced in Ely on Sunday the 25th of April, raced for Goldie. No other races or competitions besides the one race listed above. For clarity, I trialled for CUBC in the 2019-2020 season, but was not selected to any crew to race for CUBC in that season (i.e., not selected to a fours head crew, Blue Boat or Goldie) which I believes means that I would have been eligible to return and race for 99s in the 2020 town bumps under rule 2.5, as I had previously rowed town bumps (and indeed all of the 2018-2019 season) with 99s (and would not have raced for any other club in the interim). 99s was incredibly formative to my rowing development and I was eager to return and row again with my friends at the club once the trialling process with CUBC had ended for the season. The onset of the pandemic obviously disrupted this but I trained out of 99s whenever restrictions allowed during the first lockdown, and the sculling program 99s ran last summer kept me sane. Following forward, were it not for the pandemic, I believe that I'd be eligible to race for 99s again this summer at town bumps under rule 2.5a as I'd have had two consecutive seasons of town bumps with 99s under my belt. I understand the necessity of the rules and exemption process for these races, but were it not for the pandemic, I feel that I would not be needing to apply for a dispensation at all, and I hope that the delegates take this into account and grant my exemption.
Cambridge 99's William Alexander Shaw 01/12/2017 2.6 None None Member of Tyne ARC and will be racing Met, Durham and Marlow with Tyne.
Raced 2019 CRA Bumps with Nines
I was intending to compete with nines last season but due to covid I’ve had to move for work so missed the bumps. I raced in the 2018 season HORR, Wallingford, Marlow and Henley(part of the M1) but wasn’t eligible for bumps so missed that one.  Then raced throughout the 2019 season with nines: HORR, Met, Marlow and Henley(part of the m1 and top 4).
Xpress Nirupa Desai 01/05/2021 Rule 2.6 none Champs Head - Cambridge - 16/05/2021- Category Mays W4 - Caius
City Sprints - Cambridge - 02/05/2021 - Women Intermediate - Caius
Nirupa is no longer a student since September 2020, she races with a group of alumni friends under Caius so they can have access to a boat, but technically she hasn't had any link with the University since September 2020, in fact she is a full time doctor. We are asking to consider Nirupa's dispensation request to allow her to row in our W2 crew
Cantabrigian Eve Caroe 01/01/2015 Rule 2.6 - Eve is from Cambridge and was a Cantabs junior and senior rower whilst studying at Cambridge. Eve raced Town Bumps as both a junior and a senior. She is currently studying for a postgraduate degree at the Crick Institute in London. Her her lab schedules and the location of where she lives make it impossible for her to row for a university club. So instead she has chosen to row for Thames Rowing Club while she completes her studies. She isn’t eligible for Town Bumps under the clause 2.5a because the club she is currently rowing for isn’t a university club. None Metropolitan Regatta, Marlow Regatta, Henley Women’s Regatta We hope the delegates will recognise that Eve is very much a town rower and that this application is very much in the spirit of the rules, and grant this dispensation request as a special circumstance of the 2.5a exception. .
Cantabrigian Phil Gunning 01/06/1998 2.6 - Phil is currently living away from Cambridge due to work commitments and he has joined Loughborough Boat Club this year. To date he has not raced with them at all, but there is a chance that he might race for them more than twice before Bumps. So we are are requesting a dispensation for him, just in case he is not eligible under rule 2.5b. None None Phil is the epitomy of a Cambridge Town Rower. He is an Honorary Life Member of Cantabs, having run our junior section for many years. He has rowed for town clubs since 1998 (1998-1999 Free Press; 2000-2001 ‘99s; 2002-2019 Cantabs (no racing in 2020 due to Covid19 restrictions). He has raced in every Town Bumps since 1998. Since the last Bumps he has raced with Cantabs at the Masters Invitational in Seville in Oct 2019, but other races were obviously restricted by the coronavirus epidemic. He continues to race for Cantabs whenver he can, and intends to race for us in select races over the coming year (Winter Head, Xmas Head, Vesta Vets) as work commitments allow. We hope the Delegates will recognise this commitment to the Town Bumps and rowing and grant this dispensation in case Phil races for Loughborough RC on more than two occassions. We hope he will be allowed to row in a crew in Men's Division 3 or 4.
Cantabrigian Harry Turner 15/09/0018 2.6 - Harry was asked to, and did, sub into a Magdalene boat for the Head of the Cam, and has unfortunately not yet done two years Bumps racing due to last year's cancellation. Head of the Cam, Radegund Mile, City Sprints - we also expect Harry to race for us at Metropolitan Regatta and Marlow Regatta Head of the Cam Harry has been a member of Cantabs since 2018 and had last year's Bumps not been cancelled, he would have rowed for us last year and qualified to row this year under clause 2.5(b). We hope the delegates will agree a dispensation under these circumstances to avoid him being penalised again for last year's cancellation.
Rob Roy Ed Parkhouse 01/07/2005 Rule 2.3 Seat Share in First Division None None Long standing Rob Roy member, who has rowed bumps on many occasions - limited availability due to family commitments means a seat share is requested for them to take part
Rob Roy Rob Stark 01/08/2009 Rule 2.3 Seat Share in First Division None None Long standing Rob Roy member, who has rowed bumps on many occasions - limited availability due to family commitments means a seat share is requested for them to take part
Cantabrigian Judith Weik 01/01/2009 Rule 2.3 - Substitute in first division. Judith is attending her daughter's graduation which has the temerity to clash with bumps! The planned celebrations, combined with travelling by public transport mean that Judith will not be able to race on the Wednesday and Thursday nights. None yet as Judith has been recuperating from an injury incurred during lockdown. However Judith is entered to race with Cantabs in the June Peterborough Regatta and is planning to race in Xpress Head & St Ives Regatta. None Judith leaned to row with Cantabs more than 10 years ago and been a club member and regularly participated in CRA bumps ever since, as well as being a Cantabs committee member in two different roles. She would love to race again this year on the days that fit around her daughter's graduation. In 2019 she rowed in our W4 crew and would hope to be in the same crew in 2021, if the delegates allow it. We aren't yet clear who might be able to sub for Judith, possibly Cam Lardy who has a graduation ceremony to attend on the Friday of bumps.
Rob Roy George Bourne 01/02/2016 Rule 2.6 None Raced GB Trials as Tideway Scullers School Didn't race Bumps due to GB selection and then cancellation in 2020, but was planning to do so. Has long supported the club, since joining and wants to contribute to the club that has given him so much help in his rowing career.
